Zhicheng Xu is an architectural designer and educator. He is the co-founder of Hyperlocal Work, a collaborative design studio that engages architecture through the lens of material ecology and cultural sensibility. The studio’s work investigates material cycles, site-specific spatial narratives, and collective forms of environmental stewardship, aiming to bridge design practice with broader imperatives of climate resilience.
He is currently an Assistant Professor of Architecture at the University of Virginia School of Architecture. Prior to his appointment at UVA, he taught at Rice University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
